Germany, Spain clash ends in 1-1 draw, keeping Germans hopes alive


(MENAFN) Germany's World Cup hopes in Group E were maintained when they were held to a 1-1 draw with Spain on Sunday.

At Al Bayt Stadium, no team was able to break the tie.

Alvaro Morata's close-range goal in the 62nd minute gave Spain the lead.

Niclas Fuellkrug, though, scored Germany's equalizer in the 83rd minute, and the game concluded in a 1-1 tie.

Keysher Fuller scored the game-winning goal as Costa Rica defeated Japan 1-0 in another Group E match at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium.

Germany is at the bottom of the group with one point, while Spain is in first place with four points.

At this moment, Japan and Costa Rica each had three points.

On the first of December, Spain is going to play against Japan, whereas Germany is going to face Costa Rica

The 29-day football event started on the 20th of November and is going to end with the final at the 80,000-seat Lusail Iconic Stadium on the 18th of December.
