Russia's gold exports to China are increasing

(MENAFN) Based on the data from China's General Administration of Customs, the amount of Russian gold imported into China in October totaled 2.16 tons, a seven-year high.

Russian exports of gold to China in raw and semi-manufactured forms reportedly doubled in value to USD124.6 million.

China imported 5.72 tons of gold from Russia in the ten months leading up to October, which is 1.9 times more than during the same time period last year. The value of deliveries increased 1.8 times to USD330 million between January and October.

Russian gold producers are still quite far down the list of China's top suppliers despite the considerable increase. Switzerland sent gold worth USD26.5 billion to China in the first 10 months of the current year, compared to Canada's USD9.7 billion. Australia and Germany exported the precious metal for USD7.2 billion and USD775 million, correspondingly, while South Africa sold it for a total of USD7.7 billion to China.
