(MENAFN) General Mohammad Pakpour, the top commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Ground Force, stated the deployment of new army supports along the frontier with Iraqi Kurdistan.
General Pakpour stated the special and armored units now deployed along the Iraqi frontier will be also be supported as Iran carries on its military drive against Iranian Kurdish separatist groups located in northern Iraq.
“This action has been taken with the aim of preventing the infiltration of terrorist teams affiliated with the separatist groups that are based in Iraq’s northern region as well as preventing the smuggling of arms into the country,” Pakpour announced of the new military reinforcements, as reported by Iran’s state news agency, IRNA.
He declared the reinforcements were finished when the separatist groups created insecurity in northwest Iran.
“Currently, some of the IRGC Ground Force’s armored and special units are moving to western border provinces and the northwest of the country,” on the words of the IRGC commander.
