Doha: Qatar University Library has launched a dedicated web page to publish research papers related to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Director of Qatar University Library, Asma Al Buainain said that the page is launched on the library page on the website in which it merged the academic research papers of the FIFA World Cup, which were published by the university's affiliates.
It aims to help the user build knowledge about the social and cultural transformation of the great event witnessed by Qatar, in addition to presenting better understanding of Islamic heritage, culture, and values.
It presents how the university faculty members have contributed through their research to the event, as well as research papers and academic work related to all aspects of the FIFA World Cup.
Al Buainain added that Qatar University Library is keen to provide a high level of quality information to QU affiliates and to all researchers and students in Qatar.
The library caters to the colleges, faculty, and students' educational and research requirements and needs. Also, the library provides informational awareness to Qatar University affiliates by offering training workshops inside and outside the university campus and by providing individual and group assistance.
Al Buainain added that the library subscribes to a set of the most important electronic databases, amounting to 168 databases in various fields of knowledge that support the academic needs of the university. The total number of the library collection is estimated to exceed 110,000 electronic books and more than 70,000 academic periodicals in various disciplines.
“In the context of preparations for hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the library added a page on its website to merge all the academic research published regarding the FIFA World Cup, which was published by the university's affiliates, to help the user build a knowledge about the social and cultural transformation of the great event witnessed by the State of Qatar through this event. In addition, there are research papers and academic work related to all aspects of the FIFA World Cup that are available in more than 70 electronic databases which are now found on this page. Qatar University Library is committed to providing the best levels of innovative services that provide its users with the best experience and lives up to international standards,” said Al Buainain.
Qatar University Library has obtained the ISO 9001:2015 certificate for the accreditation of globally recognized quality management standards as of August 2021, when the library succeeded in achieving the accreditation requirements, as this was done by the Accreditation Committee of the Qatar University Library.
The library obtained this certificate after passing 5 stages, including a comprehensive and intensive audit process that demonstrated the compliance of Qatar University Library with internationally recognized standards according to the International Organization for Standardization ISO.
“Qatar University Library obtaining the international accreditation certificate is an important step in the way of developing administrative work in order to improve the level of distinctive and innovative services and provide them with the best practices of international standards in the management system. This achievement comes in line with the achievement of Qatar University's strategy and plans,” said Al Buainain.
