(MENAFN) Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, said on Friday that his long-promised authentication system for premium customers will be "tentatively" launched next week. So yet, Musk has unable to implement a viable method of validating Twitter's user base.
“We’re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week,” Musk tweeted, clarifying that under the forthcoming system, people will receive a blue checkmark to signify their verified status, firms and businesses will receive a gold check, and government accounts will be tagged with a gray tick.
Individuals linked with groups will receive a badge displaying this, assuming the organization approves, the billionaire stated in a follow-up tweet.
Musk noted that all individual users, whether celebrities or normal users, would receive the same blue checkmark and will pay $8 per month for the mark and some additional Twitter capabilities.
“All verified accounts will be manually authenticated before [the] check activates,” Musk went on to say, naming this move “painful, but necessary.”
