(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) The low-cost budget carrier Thai Air Asia, a subsidiary of the Malaysian based Air Asia Aviation Group has launched their inaugural flight between Dhaka and Bangkok route on Friday (25 Nov).
Air Asia's flight FD 181 departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International airport at 1 AM along with 180 passengers to the tourism city Thailand while FD 180 landed in Hazrat Shahjalal Airport in Dhaka at 12.05 AM with 50 passengers.
The airliner is operating the flights on the route with a brand new A320 aircraft.
Thai AirAsia's flight from DMK will depart on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while the return flight will depart Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
In a press briefing at Hotel Sonargaon the officials said the incoming flight carried a number of eminent passengers including officials from Thai Air Asia. Santisuk Klongchaiya, Thai Air Aia Cheif Executive Officer, Tansita Akraittipirom, Regional Commercial Head Chanita SripraSert, Product Manager Nuttawut Jitardham, Thai Air Asia Public Relation Manager Fueangvit, and Thai Air Asia Corporate Communications senior executives were amongst the delegation team.
The passengers and guests arriving on the Thai Air Asia inaugural flight were welcomed with flowers and souvenirs by the top-level management team of Thai Air Asia GSA, TAS Aviation Limited's Chairman K M Mozibul Hoque, Vice-Chairman Sheikh Mamunul Hoque, Managing Director Morshedul Alam Chaklader, Directors Kazi Shah Muzakker Ahmadul Hoque, Md Atiqur Rahman Masud, Eng Anwaar Abedin Manik, and others members of TAS Aviation Limited.
Air Asia, voted the world's best low-cost airline for 13 years row in Skytrax awards, has been operating fourteen weekly flights between Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur since 2015. With the addition of the Thai Air Asia flight, the group has added a new route for Bangladeshi travellers to avail Air Asia's affordable and lucrative fares in line with their vision 'now everybody can fly'. The airline will operate four weekly flights between Dhaka and Don Mueang, Bangkok.
Afterward, the guests from Thai Air Asia and TAS Aviation then gathered for a ribbon and cake-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the occasion in the VIP lounge at a city hotel.
Talking to the journalist, Morshedul Alam Chaklader said that the journey of Air Asia is vital in Bangladesh because it is an important route to connect rest of the world.
He sought the assistance of the media to flourish the aviation industry accordingly for maintaining improved livelihood of the local people as well as to boost the business of the tourism sector and the economy as well.“We are concern on the affordable, hassle-free, and improved aviation services for the mass people and it is my firm belief that aviation industry will put more impact-oriented role to the tourism sector and economy for the introduction of Dhaka to Bangkok direct flight”, added Chaklader.
Turing his attention toward the future plan, he said, we are now offering four flights in a week, but we have a plan to introduce daily basis flight to consider the demand of the passengers.
