SRINAGAR- An Inter Club Taekwondo Championship started at JKSC Gindun Sports Complex, Rajbagh, Srinagar Srinagar on Thursday. T
he championship is organised by District Srinagar Taekwondo Association under the aegis of J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA), and will be held under the supervision of Master Atul Pangotra (Sher-i-Kashmir/State Awardee).
“It was the first free Taekwondo Championships, where there was no entry fee as the whole event was sponsored by Atul International Taekwondo Academy and co-sponsored by Breathzone. The young kids were having an enormous craze in their eyes for the said event. Many senior Coaches and athletes also took part to glorify the championship,” the district association said in a statement.
“This championship is the only of its kind, where players secure a chance to have the International level of exposure during the play. The playoff ceremony was observed by the players, officials and parents as well.
“The competition is comprised of all age divisions with inclusion of the youngest age division (Pee Wee). The first day has witnessed a massive combative skill show between the Sub-Junior and Junior Athlete's.
“The Championships was started with the demonstration of Taekwondo skills by young Boys and Girls of different Clubs/Institutions,” the statement added
The Chief Guest of the opening ceremony was Dr. Musavir Ahmad (Coordinator, Department of Physical Education and Sports, UOK) who was received by Nissar Hussain (President) District Srinagar Taekwondo Association at the venue.
