Hamad Bin Jassim Center For Integrated Rehabilitation Care In Gaza Celebrates Its First Achievements

After a year of rehabilitation works of the Early Childhood Department of the Hamad Bin Jassim Center for Integrated Rehabilitation Care in Gaza Strip, which was established by the Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation, the center celebrated graduation of 26 male and female students, and they were immediately enrolled in the first grade in Saja School which is part of the centre.

This reflects the effectiveness of the Early Childhood Department in exerting various efforts to empower the students at an early age, with the aim of developing their capabilities by adopting the most advanced treatment programs in this field. As well providing the beneficiaries with daily care services and family education.

For the 26 graduates, the shift in the course of treatment and the commencement of enrolment in Saja School is considered at an advanced stage in the path of treatment due to advanced programs provided by the school.

In addition to its role in promoting family culture, seeking to develop the skills of children with disabilities and improving their knowledge to keep pace with their aspirations and their families in a promising future.

In this context, Saeed Muthkar Al-Hajri, Managing Director of the Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation, said: The graduation of 26 students from the Early Childhood Department of the Hamad Bin Jassim Center for Integrated Rehabilitation Care in Gaza is an achievement we are proud of because it is a humanitarian achievement that enhances the civilized role of the Foundation and its mission in supporting children with special needs of different ages in Gaza Strip.”

Al-Hajri added that the Hamad Bin Jassim Center for Integrated Rehabilitation Care, and in particular the Early Childhood Department on the center, is a bridge to enable people with special needs to possess various cognitive tools within the educational stages provided by the center, starting from the Early Childhood Department to Saja School. Saja school facilitates their future and makes it easier for them to engage positively and effectively in their societies and live a more stable life on the psychological and living condition.

Pioneer programmes:

For his part, Mohammed Libbad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hamad Bin Jassim Center for Integrated Rehabilitation Care in Gaza, said:“The Hamad Bin Jassim Center for Integrated Rehabilitation Care in Gaza provides academic services for children with disabilities. The services are pioneering in their integration and outputs and the centre deals with care and education of children with disabilities including people with mild intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, Down Syndrome, or physical motor injuries are all getting services of the centre.”

“The programme is based on four levels: first level is early intervention, second developing the capabilities 1, capabilities 2, and capabilities 3. When the child passes these stages, they will be able to master reading, writing, and simple arithmetic operations. Non-academic services include physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy and psychosocial support.”

For her part, Helen Al-Fasih, Director of the Early Childhood Department, said on the occasion of the graduation of the 26 students:“The Early Childhood Department is considered pre-school stage, as children are received in this department from the ages of 4 to 12 years.”

“The beneficiaries are received through the preliminary evaluation committee consisting of doctors of the centre, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and supervisor of special education. The committee assesses the level of the child and transfer them to the appropriate programme.”

Al-Fasih added:“After joining the programme there is an initial period that extends from a week to a month called the adaptive month. During the month, the students' strengths and weaknesses are monitored. Before a treatment plan is developed, the centre forms a working group consisting of the evaluation committee members, with the exception of the doctor, while making sure that the family is present, the working group develops an integrated treatment plan for the child at the academic and health levels.”

Helen Al-Fasih indicated that the Early Childhood Department adopts the Portage and Checklist programmes, which are advanced international programmes. Assessments are also carried out, including pre-assessment, interim assessment, and final assessment, which contribute to determining the level of improvement of the child, while consulting with the work team to identify the problem that limits the student's progress, whether it is health, academic, or even family.

The Hamad Bin Jassim Center for Integrated Rehabilitation Care in Gaza is one of the sublime humanitarian messages that the Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation seeks to achieve at the international level. It provides supportive medical services and special education in accordance to the best medical systems and modern rehabilitation methods.

This monthly and continuous assistance comes throughout the year, due to the great interest that the Foundation attaches to charitable initiatives and projects within Qatar, which are at the top of its priority.

Education and Health:
Considering that the fields of health and education reflect the vision of the Foundation, October witnessed the provision of aid worth over QR299,360 in the field of education.

The aid included paying tuition fees for students of various educational levels in private and community schools in addition to private universities and academies, with the aim of meeting the needs necessary for that segment, which enables them to continue their scientific and academic achievement without any difficulties.

The Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation also provided health assistance amounting to QR76,000, which included the payment of treatment fees.

This is provided by Foundation for many medical cases within the framework of the agreement signed with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), benefiting to poor patients who were unable to pay their medical bills due to financial problems.

Financial Assistance:
Through its constant endeavor to provide financial assistance to those who are in need, the Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation realises the importance of this support in achieving comprehensive community development. 

The Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation adopted a flexible and effective mechanism that aims to support the largest segment of those needy groups, and diversify forms of financial support between financial and in-kind assistance, according to the needs of each individual or family.

The financial assistance provided by the Foundation in October amounted to QR626,000, while the total cost of in-kind assistance was QR655,125.

The Foundation also provided support to a number of civil society associations and organisations at a cost of QR570,750, which included Qatar Diabetes Association, Qatar Cancer Society and Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (AMAN).

Social Solidarity:
The charitable initiatives and projects implemented by the Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation are characterised by sustainability due to their being self-financing, and devoting in their orientations the principle of social solidarity.

This is done by ensuring that continuous social assistance is provided to the needy and needy families and alleviating the financial burdens they face.

The Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation assesses applications for social assistance submitted by needy families through the Foundation's charitable operations department after conducting integrated and comprehensive study of the cases, and conducting field research for aid seekers by a group of qualified social researchers in this field.

They collect the necessary information about the cases that apply for financial or in-kind support such as school fees, house rent and health care. The experts study the financial and social aspects of each case separately, and then submit recommendations to the Executive Committee, along with all documents related to the case.
