One-time champions, Spain, now top Group E with three points with Japan trailing only by goal difference after a shock 2-1 victory over Germany earlier in the day.
The Belgians survived an onslaught by Canada in Group F, who qualified to the illustrious global footballing event for the first time ever.
The Canadians ran riot with a total of 22 shots on goal compared with the Red Devils' nine but both teams were matched in terms of shots on target - three.
