Cristiano Ronaldo requests journalists to stop enquiring players around latest interview

(MENAFN) Cristiano Ronaldo requested reporters on Monday not to enquire teammates in the Portugal team around a latest meeting that put him in the middle of a media storm.

"I don't have to worry what others think. I talk when I want to," Ronaldo stated at a press meeting of the national team on the meeting with British reporter Piers Morgan in which the legend stated that Manchester United head couch Erik ten Hag was attempting to force him off the club and that he sensed that he was "betrayed" by the club.

On an awkward first interaction he had with teammate United player Bruno Fernandes at the national team camp, Ronaldo stated that both of them were "playing around." "His plane was late -- I asked him did you come by boat."

"Please, don't ask players about me -- ask about the World Cup," the 37-year-old legend stated.

Justifying the timing of his meeting with Morgan last Monday, Ronaldo stated that "Timing is always timing. From your side it is easy to look at how we can chose timings. Sometimes you write truths, sometimes you write lies."
