Iran criticizes proposed uranium resolution from UN watchdog

(MENAFN) Mohammad Eslami, the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization in Tehran, has claimed that the country is going to continue to work toward obtaining nuclear weapons despite an IAEA draft resolution denouncing Iran.

The official addressed the issue on Sunday, making reference to the United Nation watchdog's position on claims that Iran is refusing to help with an inquiry into uranium traces that have allegedly been discovered on its land.

During a gathering in Isfahan, Eslami claimed. He called the IAEA's decision a "wrong measure" and threatened to respond to the organization's animosity with "firm response," “the nuclear programs of the Islamic Republic of Iran are moving forward according to the strategic action plan of the parliament, and the issuance of multiple resolutions against Iran will not cause any disruption in the progress of these programs.”

The "illogical and destructive" IAEA resolution was denounced in a statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Sunday. Nasser Kanaani, the agency's spokesman, emphasized that Tehran's nuclear program was the most open in the world and had received more inspections than those of other nations.
