Turkiye Launches Wide-Scale Operation In N. Syria, Iraq


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Turkiye carried out a wide-scale air operation against militants in northern Syria and northern Iraq, according to the country's Defense Ministry.
It said the operation was launched as per Article 51 of the United Nations (UN) Charter, which ensures the right of self-defense, the ministry said in a press statement late Saturday.
The Pence-Kilic (Claw-Sword) Air Operation was carried out in northern Iraq and Syria which are used as bases for attacks against Turkiye, it added.
The fresh army operation followed a recent attack on Istanbul's bush Istiklal Avenue, which left at least six people dead and 81 others injured. (end)
