500 Needy Families Distributed Food Items In Uruzgan

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): About 500 needy and destitute families were distributed food items by the Red Crescent Society in central Uruzgan province on Friday.

Mullah Sami Haqqani, head of the society in Uruzgan, said each family was given 50 kilograms of flour, 10 liters of oil, 10 kilograms of pulses 10 kilograms of dates and three kilograms of salt.

He said the needy families were identified in a survey conducted by a joint delegation in Tirinkot, the provincial capital, and remote areas of the province some time ago.

He said needy families, orphaned, disabled and families without guardians were identified during the survey.

A recipient of the aid, Mohammad Sharif, a resident of Kakark area of ​​Tirinkot, told Pajhwok Afghan News he was struggling with severe economic problems and needed all kinds of help.

In addition to government aid agencies, 31 aid organizations are also active in Uruzgan in different fields including development works besides humanitarian aid.
