Deadly bomb destroys armaments manufacturing in Eastern Europe

(MENAFN) Based on local officials, an explosion at a Bulgarian weapons factory killed at least three individuals and injured one more, demolishing most of the building and forcing a thorough evacuation of the grounds.

According to district prosecutors, the explosion occurred on Tuesday at a factory managed by Arsenal in the city of Kazanlak. Officials first stated that the explosion killed a 55-year-old man who worked at the facility, but they have subsequently verified the deaths of two female employees, ages 53 and 43. One other woman is still in the hospital after being seriously injured in the explosion; no names have been released.

“In the workshop where the accident took place, products with… explosive mixtures are produced,” the prosecutor’s office stated in an announcement, noting, “The workers from the neighboring premises were evacuated. A large part of the workshop was destroyed.”

A massive off-white cloud was observed billowing from the weapons facility on Tuesday afternoon, according to footage purportedly showing the aftermath of the explosion.
