Iran urges US president to respect human rights record

(MENAFN) The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday called for Joe Biden to respect the United States’ human rights record and stop inhumane restrictions on Iran if he is really worried about human rights, blaming Washington of “hypocrisy”.

The ministry was replying to a declaration issued by the White House late on Monday in which Biden blamed Iran of a violent restriction on protests after the passing of a young Iranian girl in hospital on September 16 three days following losing consciousness at a police station in Tehran.

“It would have been better if Mr. Joe Biden, before taking up humanitarian postures, had thought about the human rights record of his own country, though hypocrisy needs no thinking,” ministry’s spokesman Nasser Kanaani wrote on his Instagram page.

Biden should instead be worried regarding the many restrictions his republic has hit on the Iranian country “as their implementation against any nation is a clear example of crimes against humanity,” Kanaani also said.

He went on to say people around the world “have been and are witnessing the true and unmasked face of American human rights” in many nations, counting Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Syria and even on U.S. soil.
