UK’s energy official cautions of 'significant risk' gas deficiencies

(MENAFN) The UK’s energy official has cautioned that the nation could deal with a “significant risk” of gas deficiencies this winter.

The deficit might indicate requesting huge industrial customers in the UK to halt consuming gas if an emergency is confirmed because of the deficiency, mostly led by the effect of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The cautioning came in a message from the energy watchdog Ofgem to The Times of London delivered last week.

In other warning, previously on Monday, the International Energy Agency (IAE) stated that worldwide natural gas markets are set to stay tight in 2023, with reduced gas flow from Russia to Europe, increased gas costs, less request, and the effect of energy conservation actions.

The IEA stated that as Russia's limiting natural gas flow to Europe causes additional highs in worldwide costs, it also upsets the exchange flow, causing fuel deficiencies in some emerging and developing economies.
