Messi scored a freekick and the late winner from Mbappe lead PSG to a 2-1 narrow win in Ligue 1.
Kylian Mbappe netted his eighth goal in the same number of Ligue 1 games to lead Paris Saint-Germain to a narrow 2-1 victory against a solid Nice side.
PSG dominated possession from the off, being the better side before the break and taking the lead just before the half an hour mark.
The Ligue 1 reigning champions were awarded a freekick outside Nice's box, with specialist Lionel Messi stepping up to send the ball in the top right corner.
Nice struggled to create in the final third before the break, recording just one shot in total. Yet, they hit the ground running after the interval, with Gaetan Laborde scoring an equaliser two minutes into the second half.
PSG pushed for a second, but Kasper Schmeichel pulled off a fine save to deny Nuno Mendes with 20 minutes to go.
The hosts finally managed to get back the lead in the 83rd minute through Mbappe, who netted his 11th goal in 10 games across all competitions this season.
The French striker, who replaced Hugo Ekitike just before the hour mark, slotted in from Nordi Mukiele's cutback.
PSG are yet to lose since Christophe Galtier, who managed Nice last season, replaced Mauricio Pochettino as boss in the summer.
They go top with eight wins and a draw from nine games. Marseille, who drop to second, are also unbeaten with seven wins and two draws.
