Large crowds of Herat University students protested the explosion at the Kaaj education center in Kabul, the Afghan capital, in the streets of Herat province in northwest Afghanistan.
The demonstrators swarmed the streets of Herat province chanting and screaming“Stop Genocide” and“Education our right” without taking a breath, on Sunday, October 2.
Earlier on Saturday, many young girls protested in Kabul, including some who had survived the Kaaj explosion. However, in addition to beating the protesters, the Taliban forces also fired aerial shots to disperse the crowd.
Concerned about the repression of demonstrators, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) stated that women's protests in Kabul, which demand greater protection from their communities, were once more met with increased violence.
At least 23 students were killed and 32 were injured in a deadly explosion at the Kaaj education center in a Hazara neighborhood of Kabul, which sparked protests both domestically and internationally.
The explosion attack in the Kaaj educational center took place at around 7:00 on Friday morning, September 30 when students were taking a mock entrance exam in Kabul's 13th district.
The death toll of the explosion in the Kaaj education center is disputed as Nafi Takor, spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Interior, said the explosion resulted in 19 dead and 27 injured.
However, a Kaaj employee who spoke to VOA under the condition of anonymity stated that the explosion caused 35 fatalities and 40 injuries, demonstrating that the numbers are noticeably inconsistent.
The UNAMA human rights teams are attempting to determine the precise number of victims of the attack on the Kaaj. According to UN numbers, this attack resulted in the deaths of 35 people and the injuries of 82 others.
