I graduated with BSc in chemical engineering from Wits University in 1983. I then completed a master's and Ph.D. I joined the academic staff in 1985. In 1991 I joined Sasol and spent 30 years there. In March 2021 I took voluntary early retirement from Sasol. I joined Africa Energy Leadership Centre (AELC) at the Wits business school in April 2022.

I have significant experience in the petrochemical industry relating to liquid fuels and chemicals. I have been involved in technology development, process commercialisation, technology licensing, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, strategy, and business development.
