Tehran- The enemy is making attempts to sow sedition in the Iranian society as it feels rattled by the Islamic Republic's growing power and authority, President Ebrahim Raeisi said Wednesday, as some Western countries continue to instigate riots in Iran.
Addressing a cabinet meeting in the Iranian capital Tehran, Raeisi pointed to recent foreign-backed riots in Iran in the wake of a young Iranian woman's death and said the enemy's efforts to sow sedition were because“it feels threatened by the power and progress” of the Islamic Republic.
He highlighted the need to speak about this“honorable power” by creating“lasting cultural works” so that“enemies will admit to it and the new generation will get acquainted with its different aspects.”
Protests over the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman who fainted at a police station last week and was later pronounced dead at a hospital, erupted first in her native province of Kurdistan and later spread to other parts of the country, including Tehran.
The CCTV footage released by the police showed no force used on her while in their custody, dismissing reports of foul play in her tragic death.
Despite plausible clarifications provided by authorities on the circumstances surrounding Amini's death, Western media left no stone unturned in resorting to disinformation campaign and sowing seeks of sedition in Iran.
It was evident when protests turned into violent riots, with rioters going on the rampage across the country, attacking security officers, resorting to vandalism against public property and desecrating religious sanctities.
The rioters were backed by the Western regimes and their mercenary media, who disseminated misinformation and distorted the sequence of events that led to Amini's death even before the official investigation into the incident concludes.
There has been no official statement about the extent of the damage yet but the Iranian Health Ministry announced on Thursday that at least 60 ambulances were damaged during the riots in several cities.

Earlier in the day, Iranian government spokesman, Ali Bahadori Jahromi, said the rioters and those who incite violence must compensate for the damage inflicted on the Iranian people.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Wednesday's cabinet meeting, the spokesman described the recent unrest as“organized acts of sabotage”, the ground for which was prepared by the“opposition media.”
Lauding the Iranian people for staging massive countrywide rallies in condemnation of foreign-backed riots, the spokesperson said the demonstrations distinguished people from rioters.
He also said that Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib had briefed the cabinet in today's session on the close cooperation between rioters and the opposition media on social networks.
Since the protests broke out last week, Western-backed media outlets have gone out of their way to stoke violence by picking up the story and willfully distorting it.
Some Western countries, including the United States, have cheered on the rioters by issuing statements in their support.
FM Spox slams US' 'shameful paradox'
Nasser Kan'ani, the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Tuesday that it was a“shameful paradox” that spokespersons and high-ranking officials of an administration that sought to“bring Iranian people to their knees” through“maximum pressure” policy were now“sympathizing” with the Iranian nation.
In a post on his Twitter account, he said“more paradoxical” was Western media“encouraging street clashes and destruction” and fanning ethnic conflicts while raising the calls for“life” for the Iranian people.
Iran's military bodies have issued separate statements in recent days in condemnation of the foreign-backed riots. They say the conspiracy hatched by the enemies is doomed to fail.
Millions of Iranians took to the streets across the country twice last week in condemnation of the desecration of Islamic sanctities and acts of vandalism by rioters. They reaffirmed their pledge of support for the Islamic Republic and its security forces.
