(MENAFN) France made an announcement that it will close another mosque, blaming the imam of being radicalized, in line with media reports on Wednesday.
The Interior Ministry began the process of closing the Obernai Mosque in the Bas-Rhin area, as reported by French BFM TV and Le Figaro.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin shared on Twitter that 23 “separatist places of worship” have been closed in the earlier two years.
He went on to say that the closures came following a call by the leader to fight "Islamist separatism."
The ministry blames the imam of the Obernai Mosque of starting radical preaching activities, taking a hostile attitude to French society and making provocative remarks against the values of the republic.
The Paris administration has been condemned by the world, non-governmental organizations and human rights organizations, mainly the UN, as it targets and marginalizes Muslims.
