Nord Stream pipelines have let more than half of gas escape into atmosphere

(MENAFN) More than half of the gas in the damaged Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines has escaped into the atmosphere, Danish officials stated on Wednesday. Moreover, the Danish Energy Board anticipates that the pipelines' gas supply is going to run out on Sunday.

At a news conference, Kristoffer Bottzauw, director of the Danish Energy Agency, claimed that "half of the gas is out, and we expect the pipes to be emptied on Sunday."

The news conference about the alleged sabotage of the Nord Stream pipes included representatives from the Danish Energy Board, Copenhagen Police, and the Swedish Armed Forces. Bottzauw asserts that "sabotage" is probably to blame for the disclosures.

He also mentioned, “that is why we have increased preparedness in the energy sector to orange. It is the second highest level.” Flemming Larsen, managing director of the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, noted many explosions that took place at the area at the same moment, according to broadcaster SVT Nyheter.
