Four Ukrainian Regions Vote For Annexation With Russia


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, Sept 28 (KUNA) -- Four regions of Ukraine have voted in favor of annexation with Russia, the Russian news agency TASS said on Wednesday.
TASS said the referendum the four regions and took place over five days, from September 23-27.
It added results showed over 93.23 percent of people in Donetsk voted for joining Russia, 98.42 percent in Luhansk, 87.05 percent in Kherson and 85 percent in Zaporizhzhia region.
Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik, Leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), called for annexation with Russia.
Leaders of the four regions have headed to Moscow to start procedures for annexation with Russia at the Kremlin, TASS said, adding that the Russian parliament would ratify the required documents.
Western countries haved rejected the referendum. (end)
