US is getting additional weaponry ready for Ukraine

(MENAFN) According to Reuters, Washington is putting the finishing touches on a fresh military aid package for Ukraine amid its crisis with Russia.

Based on the United States sources who talked to the news agency but declined to be identified, the announcement on the shipment of more armaments to Kiev valued at USD1.1 billion is going to be made "in the coming days."

According to the sources, the package is anticipated to comprise HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, ammunition for them, counter-drone and radar systems, replacement parts, training, and technical support.

The funding for the assistance is going to come from the government's Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), therefore the weaponry will be expressly purchased for Kiev from American armaments manufacturers rather than being seized from United States inventories.

The amount is going to be added to the more than USD15 billion in military assistance that Washington has already given to the administration of President Vladimir Zelensky since the beginning of Russia's military intervention in Ukraine in late February.
