(MENAFN) The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Saturday crushed terrorist bases in northern Iraq with weaponry fire.
The invasion was done by ground militaries of the IRGC.
Units for the Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada base started the operation to "destroy the positions of anti-Iran terrorist groups affiliated with global arrogance in northern Iraq who have in recent days trespassed on Iran's northwestern borders and attacked some border bases of our country," the IRGC stated.
It also said that the IRGC security militaries gave a significant reply to the terrorists' invasion when officials in northern Iraq held back from taking an appropriate measure and paying due attention to many cautions given to them aimed at the deployment and activity of anti-revolution mercenaries and terrorists aimed at Iran, Press TV.
According to the declaration, the operation would carry on in order to "ensure sustainable border security and punish criminal terrorists" and blamed officials in northern Iraq towards achieving their legal responsibilities in according to global rules.
