LIS Hosts Hindi Debate Competition

Doha: Loyola International School (LIS) in association with North Indian Association-Doha (NIA-Doha) has organised Hindi Pakhwara (an inter-school Hindi debate competition), under the aegis of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) Qatar. 

The topic of the debate was 'India will be a progressive and a developed country by 2047 – a reality or a myth'. The competition aimed to give students a creative platform to express their points of view and build their capacities to engage in retrospective issues. More than 35 students from nine different Indian schools across Qatar participated in the debate. 

The programme began with welcoming the Chief Guest, Rajneesh Sashtri, and other guests of honour namely, Milan Arun, Minu Parasar and Avneesh Agarwal, who functioned as judges of the debate. 

This was followed by an inaugural prayer in Arabic and the lighting of the lamp ceremony. There was a brief cultural programme which comprised of a beautiful dance and group song by the students of LIS. 

The principal of LIS, Promod Kumar Ranwaka addressed the gathering emphasised that a debating event not merely assesses the speakers but also provides an opportunity for learning and developing one's capacities. 

Four speakers participated from each school and spoke either for or against the motion. There were interesting point of views substantiated with relevant statistics, presented by many of the speakers.
