Iran’s Leader underlines importance of preserving international frontiers

(MENAFN) Iranian Leader Ebrahim Raisi underscored the importance of preserving international borders when he met Armenian Premier Nikol Pashinyan on Thursday in New York.

Raisi informed Pashinyan that Iran emphasizes guarding joint and global frontiers and respecting other nations' sovereignty, in addition to stopping any kind of change in the area's political geography.

As said by the president, discussion and dialogue are the only way to stop current argument between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

“As we stressed in the Shanghai summit, the region cannot tolerate a new war,” Raisi also said.

Calling the frontiers between Iran and Armenia old, the president said that protecting these important, strategic frontiers is needed for political and financial collaboration between both nations.

Iran has already proclaimed with an unequivocal voice that it will not accept any alteration in its frontiers with Armenia. Leader of the Islamic Revolution declared in separate conferences with Russian President Putin and Turkish President Erdogan while heading to Iran in July.

For his part, Pashinyan announced, “We will protect our entire land and territories and stand against any conspiracy aimed at separating Iran and Armenia.”
