(MENAFN) The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has stated that earlier "non-conformities" in the Ukrainian anti-doping system would be "provisionally pardoned" due to the conflict with Russia.
WADA reported in October of last year that an exhaustive study into the activities of the National Anti-Doping Center of Ukraine (NADC) had discovered testing abnormalities.
WADA's Compliance Review Committee (CRC) began a procedure against the NADC as part of the case in an effort to bring standards into line.
WADA released an update on the situation on Friday following a meeting of its Executive Committee (ExCo) in Sydney, implying that any progress was stalled due to the confrontation with Russia.
“The ExCo decided to provisionally excuse the previously communicated non-conformities of the National Anti-Doping Center of Ukraine (NADC) for reasons of force majeure,” according to the statement.
The message highlighted that the hostilities with Russia “continue to prevent NADC’s timely correction of its non-conformities.”
“WADA will continue to monitor the situation and the CRC will reassess the case once force majeure no longer applies,” it noted.
