DOHA: Members of the Changanacherry NSS College Alumni Association Qatar chapter (CHANSS-QATAR) celebrated the Onam festival with traditional gaiety and fervor, commemorating a mythical past of prosperity, peace and equality, here last weekend.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the association could not celebrate the annual festival during the last two years, but the members more than made up for that by displaying their solidarity and camaraderie through several dance, musical, and cultural shows, including the Thiruvathirakali, Vallapattu, Nadanpattu, skits etc.
As usual the celebrations ended with a traditional vegetarian feast, served in banana leaves.
Amritha Sudheesh, General Secretary, CHANSS-Qatar, welcomed the gathering while President Ajith Nair delivered the Onam message. Executive Committee member and former president Bindu Philip proposed a vote of thanks.
