Senate President Meets French Minister For Digital Transition

Amman, Sept. 23 (Petra)-- Senate President Faisal al-Fayez, on Friday, said that the digital economy in Jordan is witnessing increasing attention as it constitutes the economy of the future and achieves financial returns that contribute to the overall economy of countries.
Al-Fayez made his remarks as he met in Paris, upon an invitation from his French counterpart, with French Minister for Digital Transition and Telecommunications Jean-Noel Barrot.
The meeting was attended by Senate Assistant President Mufleh Rhimi and Alia Buran, and head of the Jordanian-French Friendship Committee Senator Issa Murad, Muhammad Al-Shawabkeh, and George Hazboun, in addition to Jordan's Ambassador in Paris Makram al-Qaisi.
Jordan has recently witnessed a remarkable attention to the digital economy sector, and in light of this process, a ministry of digital economy has been established, and strategies are being developed, with the aim of achieving an 'e-government,' al-Fayez said during the meeting.
Al-Fayez reiterated his call for setting up a French-Jordanian university due to its importance in strengthening cultural ties between the two countries, commending the French support for the Kingdom in various spheres.
For his part, Barrot voiced his country's desire to support Jordan in various fields and providing training programs for Jordanian youth in the field of the digital economy, which creates great job opportunities, in addition to providing Jordan with expertise in the field of fodder cultivation by utilizing state-of-the-art technology in this regard.
