Doha: The dead whale which was found in the Sealine area last week was buried yesterday, announced the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC).

A team from the Department of Natural Reserves in the Ministry buried the 14-metre-long Bryde whale yesterday in order to get rid of its waste and unpleasant odors as well as to keep the beach clean.

This was announced yesterday by the Ministry as it shared a video and photo on social media.

The carcass of a female Bryde whale was found in the morning of September 26 at Sealine area. An environmental monitoring team from the Ministry then took samples and measurements of the dead whale in order to conduct necessary laboratory tests. The results of samples later showed that the whale died of starvation due to old age, inferred by the loss of its baleen, which is a filter feeding system inside its mouth used to strain seawater for food.
