A Major Recent Flood In Dallas, TX Caused An Estimated Billions of Dollars Worth of Damage
September 22, 2022 – A recent heavy weather event caused major flood damage in Dallas, Texas, with Accuweather estimating up to 6 billion dollars in damages. As many as 16 inches of rain fell, forcing Governor Greg Abbot to sign a disaster declaration. Reportedly, at least one woman tragically died in the floods as her car got swept away. The Insurance Council of Texas declared Wednesday that 3,500 property claims, 1,500 auto claims, and 20 flood claims had already been filed.
Especially combined with the recent drought, this flood left many residential and business building owners unprepared. Restaurants and bars in the Downtown Dallas, East Dallas, and Deep Ellum areas were likely hit the hardest. Some experts have deemed this storm a“one in a thousand year weather event”.
Flood conditions can cause major damage to roofs, and often cause people to find leaks that they never knew existed. Generally, regular roof maintenance reduces the risk of damage during a flood, but sometimes issues arise and the best way to address water damage is with prompt action and repair.
