Amman, Sept. 22 (Petra) Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, on Thursday, received International Olympic Committee (IOC) chief Thomas Bach and the accompanying delegation currently visiting the Kingdom.
During a meeting, which was attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh, Minister of State for Follow-up and Government Coordination Nawaf al-Tal and Minister of Youth Mohammad Nabulsi, Khasawneh stressed Jordan's keenness to strengthen the partnership with the IOC to support sports projects and programs in the Kingdom.
The prime minister also stressed the government's special attention, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to the youth sector and to enhance its participation in various walks of life, pointing out that sport is an effective tool in strengthening the social fabric and rapprochement between peoples.
Khasawneh pointed out that the Jordan Olympic Committee, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, seeks to provide capabilities and enhance opportunities for Jordanian youth to participate in international competitions and the Olympic Games.
For his part, Bach indicated that his visit to Jordan and countries in the region aims at strengthening ties with the member states of the IOC and to support sports and youth projects and programs in the region.
