Cabinet Approves Aqaba Maritime Reserve Law

Amman, Sep 18 (Petra) -- The Cabinet Sunday approved the Aqaba Marine Reserve Law 2022 that aims to protect the marine and terrestrial environment and ecosystems and their natural, historical and cultural elements.
The law focuses on combatting the impact of climate change and organising and managing the reserve.
In a ministerial session, virtually chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, the Cabinet also approved the German-Jordanian University (GJU) Investment Fund Law 2022, which seeks to enable the university to make optimal use of its capabilities and good management of resources.
The Cabinet approved the reasoning for a draft law amending the Vocational Training Corporation Law for 2022 before sending it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau to complete the procedures for its issuance.
Under the draft law, the name of the vocational training institution would be changed to the 'Vocational Skills Academy' in line with changing the prevailing patterns of societal thinking about vocational training.
The Cabinet approved the reasoning for a draft law amending the administrative organisation structure for the Jordan News Agency (Petra) for 2022 before sending it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau.
The Cabinet okayed the start of the first phase of the Rehabilitation and Expansion of the al-Durra Border Crossing Project through the implementation of the passenger terminal (departing and arrival), estimated at €1.2 million.
