Financial Stress, A Catalyst For Suicide Young Man Shoots Self In Northeastern Afghanistan

(MENAFN- Khaama Press)

Local Taliban authorities in the northeastern Afghan province of Badakhshan stated that a young man in the city of Faizabad, Badakhshan province's central district, committed suicide by shooting himself as a result of financial hardships.

According to Moizuddin Ahmadi, the Director of Taliban Information and Culture in Badakhshan province, the young man's name was Muhammad Essa, and he died on Tuesday, September 6.

The Taliban official stated that Mohammad Essa's family, particularly his mother, were unable to fulfill his repeated pleas for financial assistance for him to travel to Iran.

Mohammad Essa allegedly shot himself to end his suffering after being unable to pay his expenses on his own and receiving an unfavorable response from his family due to their precarious financial situation.

According to a related report, a businessman was murdered by his debtors in police district 6 of Faizabad about two nights ago, according to the Director of Information and Culture for Badakhshan.

Three people have allegedly been held in custody concerning this murder, the Taliban official said.

The businessman was killed, in Ahmadi's account, while asking his debtors for payment. The debtors killed the creditor, most likely in an effort to avoid paying the debt, rather than making a settlement.

Many young people lost their jobs as a result of the Taliban seizing power in the country, and some figuring ways to get to the neighboring countries seeking jobs. There have been more suicides, particularly among young people, as a result of poverty, unemployment, and increased crime rate under the Taliban rule.
