China takes proactive measures to strengthen sense of nationalism among Chinese people

(MENAFN) Zhao Yong, the deputy head of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission, claims that over the past ten years, significant steps have been taken in China to strengthen the sense of nationalism among the Chinese people.

The nation has carried out a number of high-quality industrial projects, made good use of the development funds for ethnic minority groups, and taken additional steps to bring prosperity to border regions. It has also adopted various supportive policies in various regions. As a result, Zhao claims that individuals from all ethnic groups can benefit from reforms and development.

According to Zhao, over the previous ten years, urban inhabitants in areas with significant ethnic minority populations saw an average yearly growth in per capita disposable income of 7.7 percent, while rural residents saw an increase of 10.2 percent.

In the interim, Zhao noted, life expectancy in those regions has significantly increased, with the life expectancy in Tibet Autonomous Region increasing by four years in comparison to ten years ago. Zhao also noted that a significant amount of infrastructure, such as railroads and industrial parks, has been built in these regions.

Zhao claimed that "over the past 10 years, the exchanges, interactions and integration among different ethnic groups have reached an unprecedented level in depth and breadth."
