President Of Korea, Deputy PM Review Bilateral Cooperation

Seoul: President of the Republic of Korea H E Yoon Suk-yeol met yesterday with Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, in Seoul.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the President of the Republic of Korea, and His Highness's wishes of good health and happiness, and to the government and people of the Republic of Korea continued progress and prosperity.

President of the Republic of Korea conveyed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs his greetings to H H the Amir, wishing His Highness good health and happiness, and the State of Qatar continued progress, development and prosperity.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation, ways to support and develop them in various fields and Qatar's preparations to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Korean President expressed his country's aspiration to strengthen relations with Qatar, especially in the fields of energy, technology and food security.

The President said that the agreement signed by the two sides on Wednesday, regarding mutual exemption of visa requirements for citizens of the two countries, would strengthen relations between Qatar and Korea.

He praised the efforts of Qatar in mediating between the United States and the Afghan Taliban, and Doha's hosting of the indirect round of talks between the US and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
