YouTuber criticizes CNN for taking his video without permission

(MENAFN) A 74-second clip that got more than 9,000 likes for CNN on Twitter quickly became a major headache when the YouTube creator who made the video called them out for using it without even asking for approval. Allen Pan’s tweet quickly went spread all over social media, and received at least 450,000 likes, although he has a small part of the corporate network’s followers.

“Watch a snake walk using robotic legs” CNN shared a tweet on Tuesday afternoon to its 59.4 million followers on Twitter.

“Watch a billion dollar news company use my footage without licensing it,” Pan came back that evening, although he has around 37,000 followers on the platform, he soon took far more engagement – and permission – than CNN, this attracted the Daily Caller, which shared about it early on Wednesday.

Pan also clarified that the Warner Bros. Discovery subsidiary never talked to him to ask for approval, saying that he usually calls for a licensing fee of around USD500, “which is a fair rate and a drop in the bucket for CNN.”
