Latvia welcomes Turkey’s mediation in Ukraine grain agreement

(MENAFN) Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics stated that Latvia has appreciated Turkey’s negotiation role among Moscow and Kyiv to secure grain shipment from Ukrainian ports.

"We appreciate the effort and the role that Türkiye has played to advance and to provide good offices to secure the grain deal," Rinkevics staetd in an exclusive meeting with Anadolu Agency on Tuesday after having encountered with his Turkish equivalent Mevlut Cavusoglu in the capital of Turkey.

"I think that what the Turkish government has done so far, working with Ukraine and with Russia and also partnering with the UN to secure grain exports to address the food security issue, is a remarkable achievement," he also mentioned.

He also declared that it is vital that the agreement is being applied.

On July 22, Turkey, the UN, Russia as well as Ukraine inked an agreement in Istanbul to resume three Ukrainian Black Sea ports for shipping Ukrainian grain blocked because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which broke out 6 months ago.
