Moscow: Ukraine lost its economic independence

(MENAFN) Ukraine has lost its economic independence since it cannot achieve its obligations to its residents without aid from Western nations, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stated on Monday.

On Telegram, Volodin said that “collected taxes form only 40% of the country's budget,” more than 60% of which covers military spending. Ukraine’s monthly deficit amounts to USD5 billion, Volodin reminded.

“Ukraine is bankrupt,” he added.

The same figure was recorded on Friday by the Wall Street Journal.

In the speaker’s point of view, “without the help of Washington and Brussels, Kiev can no longer fulfill its obligations to citizens.”

“Ukraine has lost its financial independence,” Volodin decided.

On Monday, the Ukrainian administration hosted draft law to stop preferential taxation on fuel. A helpful comment on the Rada’s website states that “there is a significant shortage of funds for financing the road industry.”
