The caravans project will be launched this week at Darb Al Saai in Al Messila to give Qatar World Cup 2022 fans more housing and accommodation options, Omar al-Jabir, Executive Director of the Housing Department at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy official has told Al Kass channel.
The caravan will be sourced through local suppliers and the site will be prepared to host around 1,500 units. The location will be in the heart of Doha with two nearby metro stations and multiple services easily accessible. The idea behind the project was given by one of the developers who suggested involving the public in providing more housing options during the event.
A local Arabic daily quoted Saeed al-Kuwari, executive director of the Hayya platform, as saying on Al Kass channel that starting from November, entry to Qatar will be limited to those having Hayya Cards, except for residents and Qatari citizens, throughout the tournament. The rule applies to all visitors from all countries including non-resident GCC citizens. No specific dates have been given as to when the Hayya requirement will come into effect and when it will end.
However, all who have a Qatari residency and Qatari citizens are free to exit and enter the country at any time throughout the event. The holders of any match ticket will enjoy the benefits of Hayya card and can stay in the country throughout the duration on condition of having available accommodation.
The Hayya card is considered a multiple entry permit, valid until January 23, 2023.
