Thailand Says Gotabaya Has Not Sought Asylum

Thailand says former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has not sought asylum in the country.

The Thai Foreign Ministry said that there is nothing blocking Rajapaksa from going ahead with his visit to the country.

The Thai Government said that the former President holds a diplomatic passport and can visit the country on a 90-day visa.

Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who is currently in Singapore, is expected to travel to Thailand for a few days.

He was forced to resign as President following mass protests in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)
