China publishes document for unification of Taiwan

(MENAFN) Beijing wants to peacefully reunite with Taiwan, but a Chinese white paper warned that interference by foreign nations in domestic issues in China and support for secession on the self-governing island may prevent this.

The policy statement, which was made public on Wednesday, “we will work with the greatest sincerity and exert our utmost efforts to achieve peaceful reunification. But we will not renounce the use of force, and we reserve the option of taking all necessary measures.”

The pamphlet claims that the emergency is not directed against " our fellow Chinese in Taiwan " and is required " to guard against external interference and all separatist activities." Beijing declared that it would only use force if it had to in the event that other parties crossed its red lines.

The white paper outlines China's states of sovereignty over Taiwan, which is supported by Chinese national aspirations, international law, and Chinese history. It said that throughout the years, ties across the strait had greatly improved. The ultimate objective of Beijing's Taiwan policy is peaceful reunification within the "one country, two systems" framework, which would let Taipei to maintain its internal policies.
