Russia's natural gas exports via pipeline to Europe decrease by 40 percent in 2022


(MENAFN) Russia's natural gas export by pipeline to the European Union (EU) as well as the UK decreased by nearly 40 percent throughout the January-July period of this year in comparison with the same seven months in 2021, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) stated on Tuesday.

Natural gas exports dropped by nearly 50 percent in comparison with the span of time from 2017 to 2021, the IEA stated, quoting figures from Refinitiv Eikon.

The agency stated that the nation's exports decreased to 1.2 billion cubic feet a day (bcf/d) in mid-July, the worst rate in almost 40 years.

Russia responsible for around one-third of the EU’s and the UK’s provision of natural gas through pipeline between 2016 and 2020, in line with Eurostat.

Statistics from Russian energy giant Gazprom presented that Russia shipments of natural gas to the EU and the UK through three main pipeline corridors, which account for nearly 16 bcf/d of import pipeline volume when united with lesser interconnections.
