Doha: Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Lebanon H E Walid Nassar stressed that there are several ideas to enhance sports tourism between Qatar and Lebanon, specially as Qatar is hosting FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, pointing out that the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism is working on organizing tourism packages between the two countries to enable the Qatari citizens to enjoy the tourism capabilities of Lebanon, and for the Lebanese citizens to enjoy watching the matches of this tournament in Doha.
In a special statement to QNA on the sidelines of his visit to Doha, HE the Minister noted that his visit to Doha aims at creating sustainable tourism between the two countries according to a clear strategy. He said that the Lebanese Tourism Ministry has begun to take incentive measures to revive the tourism movement and upgrade the tourism system in his country.
The Lebanese Minister said that his country would open its doors to Qatari tourists and the Lebanese government would provide them with all possible facilities.
He pointed out that the recent period witnessed some decline in the number of Qatari tourists to Beirut due to the conditions experienced by the region as a whole, and Lebanon in particular; stressing at the same time that the tourism season in Lebanon was booming this year and the number of foreign tourists was more than expected.
He pointed out that he met with a number of Qatari officials and felt positive signals from their side for enhancing tourism cooperation between the two countries. He added that there are five daily flights between Qatar and Lebanon (three for Qatar Airways and three for the Middle East Airways) and that there is an intention to increase the number of flights during the coming period, stressing the role these flights play in promoting tourism and trade exchange between the two countries.
Concluding his statement, the Lebanese Minister of Tourism thanked the State of Qatar for its permanent support for Lebanon and its great interest in the welfare of its people. He pointed out that the repeated visits and meetings between officials in both countries reflect the deep-rooted relations and the keenness to strengthen and upgrade them further.
