DFI Announces Recipients Of Qatari Film Fund's Grants For Spring 2022 Edition

Doha: Doha Film Institute (DFI) has announced the recipients of the grants from Qatari Film Fund for spring 2022 edition, including the commencement of receiving the applications for the upcoming edition with the objective of encouraging the Qatari film makers to further accomplish their film projects through affording the required financial support and training funds.

For her part, CEO of DFI Fatma Hassan Alremaihi said that Qatari film fund is considered a premium initiative to provide fund, training and support to the national talents, pointing out that over the past years the grants recipients had created premium works which received standing ovation and great appreciation in the region and worldwide, explaining that through this support the Qatari film is considered an influential incubator of talents as numerous young Qatari film makers can achieve their dreams in making films whether the narrative or documentary short films or animation through this initiative, adding that such initiative is intended to domesticate film works which are made in the state of Qatar.

The film makers Khalifa Al Marri, Al Jawhara Al-Thani, Buthaina Al Mohammadi, Muhammad Al Suwaidi and Noor Al Nasr have received the grants from Qatari Film Fund for spring 2022 edition which included three short films, one of them is narrative and two animation films and two long narrative films. Beside the financial support DFI is committed to upgrading the capabilities of film makers and providing all kinds of essential support during the journey of film manufacturing project starting from text writing until the film is aired on the screen.

On the other hand, DFI began receiving applications for the new edition of the Qatar Film Fund on August 1, and will end on September 1, however owing to considerations of financing short films, the applicants should have completed at least one short film in the past.

Every short film project is poised to receive QR 182,500, including the stages of development, production and post-production stages, in addition to the material support in development and training stages and the utilization of DFI's owned equipment & facilities, where qualified applicants would receive support during the entire stages of film making works, including development, production and post-production stages.

DFI is specifically targeting the Qatari talents and the institute is offering them funds every year, as Qatari film makers can apply for Qatari Film Fund to receive the fund of long films during the production stages with amount up to QR 182,500, including development, supervision, equipment services afforded by the institute.
