3 grain-laden ships from Ukraine sail in Turkey's Istanbul Strait


(MENAFN) The Turkish National Defense Ministry stated on Saturday that three grain-loaded Ukrainian ships had arrived at the Black Sea entrance to Turkey's Istanbul Strait on their way to Ireland.

In accordance with a recent grain transport agreement agreed by Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, and the United Nation to help the global food crisis, the first ship, the Panama-flagged Navi-Star, left the Ukrainian port of Odesa on Friday carrying 33,000 tons of maize.

On July 22, those nations and the United Nation agreed to reopen three Ukrainian ports for grain shipments from Ukraine, which had been halted for months owing to the now sixth-month-old Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The ship is being inspected by a team from the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul, which is made up of participants from all four parties. Moreover, it is anticipated that it is going to continue on its trip after the inspection.
