JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A man killed his mother and two brothers in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, and made his escape good, police said on Friday.
Police spokesman Haji Raees Zabuli told Pajhwok Afghan News that the triple murder took place last night in Araban area of the first security district of Jalalabad city.
He said the killer had managed to escape from the area, but police had launched a manhunt for him.
The police official said the bodies of the slain individuals had been taken to Jalalabad Regional Hospital for postmortem examination. With the motive remained unknown, police were trying to know all details, he added.
Nasir Khan, a resident of the area, said he heard a noise in a neighboring house and when they went there, they were informed that a person had killed his mother and two brothers, but it was not known why he did so.
He added that later security personnel arrived and removed the bodies.
Recently, there has been an increase in the number of killings involving family members in different parts of the country.
It was the fourth incident in the last two weeks in Nangarhar alone in which family members have been killed.
In the earlier incidents, a woman killed her husband in the 8th security district of Jalalabad, a husband killed his wife, and a person killed his brother's wife.
