Advertisment

Automotive sales in Canada fell 16% in July from a year ago as a shortage of available vehicles
persists nationwide, according to DesRosiers Automotive Consultants.
The Toronto-based consulting firm said 130,480 new vehicles were sold in Canada during the
month of July as manufacturers continue to struggle with a global shortage of semiconductors
and ongoing supply chain issues.
It marked the slowest July sales since 2001, and the results were 25% below the sales posted
in July 2019.
DesRosiers said that while overall sales were weak, the numbers also showed some
improvement in vehicle supplies.
The consultancy said that the seasonally adjusted annual rate of motor vehicle sales in July
came in at 1.43 million, which is in line with results seen in recent months.
