In reaction to tensions between the US and China over Taiwan, the Taliban's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared that it urges all countries to desist from acts of violation of the national sovereignty of states and not to lay the grounds for provocative actions.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the Taliban's spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tweeted on Wednesday that relations between China and the US affect the region's security, prosperity, and stability.
According to the Taliban official, the Taliban emphasizes the one-China policy and aspires to see US-China issues resolved through appropriate measures,
Balkhi implied measures that could allow the joint effort of both countries for regional and international peace, development and stability.
This comes as Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the US House of the Representatives touched down in Taiwan, flaring the US-China tensions.
Pelosi's visit prompted a series of government and political institutions to issue statements condemning the visit and warned of its“severe impact” on US-China relations.
The Chinese military has also stated that it will immediately conduct“air and sea exercises” and has established a plan for drills surrounding the island in the following days.
